Facilities Up to 50 Years Old.
Our community's oldest treatment facilities were built in the 1950s. Even the newest facilities are at least 20 years old, and most range in age from 30 to 50 years. The District has stretched out the service of these facilities as long as possible, gaining every benefit from them.

Tougher Regulations.
The public has repeatedly demonstrated its desire to protect the environment, leading to tighter and tighter regulations that are increasingly hard to meet with old facilities.

More wastewater flows are expected in the future as septic tanks convert to sewer and buildout occurs in city and county general plans.

Operational Costs Increasing.
Today, the plants are nearing the end of their useful lives. After serving the public economically and well for decades it is now time for a major upgrade.
